Design and Build quality

The LG G Pro 2 is 6 inch of pure delight from LG. The body design is quite neat and with a 5.9 inch display, it is not every ones cup of tea. We loved LG G2, but the glossy back cover left much to be desired. With LG G Pro 2, LG has provided a textured back cover, which is not a finger print magnet and facilitates a good grip and premium look. The presence of rear key implies clean edges. Volume rocker and power key are both housed at the back below the camera sensor. The 5.9 inch display with full HD resolution is mesmerizing. It is exactly what we expect from flagship devices of tier one manufacturers. If you like large displays, the LG G Pro 2 with only 8.3 mm thickness and ultra slim bezels will be a delight.

Camera and Internal Storage

The camera feature was highlighted by LG. The 13 MP camera is capable of 4K video recording and features Optical image stabilization plus. In our brief camera testing we couldn’t really discern the difference it made, but the low light performance of camera was pretty good. The camera app is also feature loaded similar to LG G2. You also get the option to use front screen as flash while clicking selfies. The internal storage is 16 GB and 32 GB and you will also get the option for expandable storage up to 64 GB. That is sufficient to keep everyone happy.

Battery, Operating System and Chipset

The battery capacity is 3200 mAh. LG G2 was one of the best in this regard and we are optimistic about LG G Pro 2. We will know for sure only after our full review. The Operating system is Android 4.4 kitkat. LG has incorporated some efficient software tool to make use of the large display size. You can long press the back button to choose from two apps which will share the large display rear estate. The mini view will launch a smaller customizable home screen with left or right swipe and this makes one handed operation quite convenient. The knock code which helps you tap the home screen in a pre defined pattern to unlock it is quite accurate and convenient, specially because it lets you by pass the inconvenience to unlock with the rear key. The Chipset is Snapdragon 800 which has repeatedly proven to be a performance beast. In our brief time with the device we didn’t notice any lag in this phone. The RAM capacity is 3 GB, comparable with phones like Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z2. LG has talked a lot about the Hi-Fi 1 W sound, but we didn’t find it to be that effective or anything extraordinary.

Conclusion

We were quite eager to meet the LG G Pro 2 and it didn’t disappoint us. The UI was also an improvement over LG G2. The phone seems a delight for those who are looking for some extra large display smartphone. The phone will be available by the end of March in India and if the price tag is competitive, the prospects will be good.
